Biologically synthesised copper oxide and zinc oxide nanoparticle formulation as an environmentally friendly wood protectant for the management of wood borer, Lyctus africanus

نویسندگان

چکیده

The management of Lyctus africanus, one the major dry wood pests in tropical region is difficult due to its secluded habits and long lifecycle therefore, control measures are limited usage insecticides. insecticides particularly metal salts effective, but some cases their leaching leads concerns about environmental pollution. Nanometal particles found be more effective than salts. Presently available nanoparticles synthesized using physical or chemical methods production results toxic by-products costly. current investigation deals with synthesis use nanoparticle for protection an environmentally friendly cost-effective way. plant extracts that reported have preservative properties were used nanoparticles. Copper oxide zinc leaf Lantana camara. efficacy camara extract copper formulation as a protectant was tested against africanus according standard BIS. effectively protected treated rubberwood blocks from attack, when compared can developed into stable, ecofriendly preservative.

Evaluation of Wood and Cellulosic Materials as Fillers in Artificial Diets for Lyctus africanus Lesne

We studied the usefulness of woodand cellulose-based diets for L. africanus Lesne. Three diets were prepared which differed on the base ingredients; wood particles (Diet 1), cellulose powder (Diet 2), and alpha-cellulose (Diet 3). The diets were provided to adult L. africanus and the number of larvae, as well as the number of adults that emerged sex ratio, and body weight of the progeny was det...

Adsorption Mechanism of Lead on Wood/Nano-Manganese Oxide Composite

Discharge of untreated industrial wastewater containing heavy metals such as Pb2+ is hazardous to the environment due to their high toxicity. This study reports on the adsorption, desorption, and kinetic study on Pb2+ removal from aqueous solutions using wood/Nano-manganese oxide composite (WB-NMO). The optimum pH, contact time and temperature for adsorption were found...

evaluation of contact angle and leach resistance of beech wood treated with nano-zinc oxide

the objective of this research is characterizing the effect of nano-zinc oxide (nano-zno) dispersions on leach resistance and contact angle of beech wood (fagus orientalis lipsky). the beech wood was cut into standard dimension, and oven dried after treating with nano-zno solution, based on immersion method. three treating nano-zno solution levels: (o, 20000 and 40000 ppm), and two thermal trea...
